Energy Performance Certificates (EPC)

Our company provides also Qualified Expert Services for Building Energy Performance and the issuance of Energy Performance Certificates (EPC). Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) can be issued only by State certified Qualified Experts, certifications that are held by our Consulting Engineers. The issuance of an Energy Efficiency Certificate (EPC) requires an energy study, based on a specific methodology determined by the Ministry of Energy and can classify buildings in energy categories on a scale from A to G, where category A represents buildings (residential, commercial, industrial , etc.) with the highest energy efficiency.

The Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) provides also valuable data such as estimated annual energy consumption, annual carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from building energy use and the Renewable Energy Sources (RES) contribution to satisfy the building’s energy needs.

The issuance of an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) is required in the following cases:

For new buildings and building units (i.e. flats)
For buildings or building units available for sale or rent. A copy of the Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) must be given to the buyer or the new tenant. In addition, the energy efficiency class of the building which is advertised for sale or rent, must be stated in all commercial advertisements.
For buildings in which the total useful area is more than 250 sq.m. used by a public authority and which is visited by the public and shall be posted in a prominent place

In any case, the owner is responsible for the issuance of the EPC.

The Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) shall always be accompanied by recommendations for improving the energy efficiency of the building or unit. The recommendations should be technically feasible, take into account the cost-benefit ratio and cover the measures that can be taken when the building undergoes a major renovation, but also when a component of the building is replaced. This provides potential buyers or tenants, as well as building owners and users, with useful information about the overall energy status of the building or building unit. Therefore, they are given the opportunity to compare similar buildings and make decisions regarding the purchase or rental, but even regarding the improvement of the building or building unit that they own or use
